FAQs

Is ziplining safe?

All adventure activities possess certain inherent risks. We have taken numerous steps to mitigate inherent risks. Our course was built by Bonsai Designs, Inc. and meets or exceeds the industry guidelines set by the Association for Challenge Course Technology. Our guides all complete an intensive training and certification program. You will be required to complete our “ground school” setting where you learn the basics of zip lining prior to actually zipping the course.

What should I wear?
  • Wear close-toed shoes such as hiking boots, tennis shoes or  sneakers
  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • Dress for the weather. We operate in rain, cold weather and snow. Wear a rain Jacket or ski Jacket if weather requires it.
  • No bulky rain ponchos - they can't be worn with our gear.

Can I bring a camera or cell phone?

Yes, You can take your own camera or your phone but you cannot carry it in your hands - as you need your hands to control the speed and stopping of the zipline. You can carry it in your pocket if it can be secured, or in a very small bag to take with you. We do not recommend big bags and recommend valuables (if you are worried about losing them) are locked in your car for safekeeping.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We run our tours rain or shine. However, the course will be closed if there is lightning in the vicinity. We will also close the course for extreme winds. Advance notice may not be possible. If we know in advance that we will be closed, we will try to notify you asap. If your tour is canceled due to weather, you may rebook for another time, or we will refund the purchase price of your tour.

Is there much walking and hiking?

For the Classic Zipline Tour - there are shorter, moderate hikes equivalent to hiking 4 flights of stairs.

For the Extreme Zipline Tour there are  steeper, more challenging hikes similar to climbing 10 flights of stairs.

Can I go if pregnant or have health problems?

If you are pregnant, you will not be permitted to go ziplining. Pregnant women, people with heart, leg, or spinal problems, or other serious illnesses will not be allowed to participate in the tour.

As for health problems, we require average mobility. If you can handle at least shorter, moderate hikes similar to ascending 4 flights of stairs, the Classic Zipline Tour is a good option for you.

Where can I check into my zipline tour?

Summer Tours (April thru September) from our Base location:

45045 US Hwy 50 West
Cañon City CO 81212

Winter Tours (Oct thru March) depart from our Outpost location in Canon City located at:

Royal Gorge Zipline Tours Outpost
302 Royal Gorge Blvd
Cañon City CO 81212

Should I tip my guide?

Our guides aim to individualize each trip specific to the group to ensure you come away with a first rate experience. If you feel your guide has provided you with professional service then a gratuity is a great way to express your appreciation.

What kind of training do the guides receive?

All zip-line tour guides are required to attend a rigorous 60 to 70+ hour training and must pass a written and practical test to begin guiding. All of our guides participate in an ongoing training program and are certified in First Aid and CPR. Our guide training is organized and instructed by a certified industry professionals.

What equipment will I wear on the course?

You will be fitted with a seat harness and chest harness, a trolley system, 2 lanyards with secure clips, gloves, and a helmet. The equipment is similar to rock climbing equipment, but specifically designed for a zip line course.

Are there weight restrictions?

Yes, for your safety, the required participant weight range for both the Classic and Extreme course is 50 (75 Extreme) to 250 pounds.

Do I need to have a reservation?

No, but reservations are always recommended. We limit our group size to 8 participants per departure every 30 minutes. This enables us to provide you with the best possible experience. If you do not have a reservation, we will always do our best to accommodate you based upon our availability.

What if I need to cancel my reservation?

We get it. Plans change and life happens. We've created a Worry Free Cancellation Plan so you can get your money back or experience a raft trip on another date.

View the full Cancellation Policies.

What if we miss our reservation time?

Guests are required to arrive at least 20 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Refunds will not be issued for late arrivals. If you fail to meet your departure time, we still incur all of the same expenses, and may have turned others away from our tours to accommodate your group. Given the circumstances we do not refund no-shows the day of the trip.

What if I am afraid of heights?

It is not uncommon to have a fear of heights. Many people that have a fear of heights are easily able to enjoy our zip line tour. You will be double-clipped to a steel cable at all times when you are zipping. Our guides are trained to assist you along the way and will be with you every step of the way to answer your questions, and provide additional support. If really needed, they may even give you a hug.

Our guests are stoked about our Zipline tours

Took the Extreme Zip Tour...best choice ever! It... was...AWESOME! I'm 100% sure it was because our guides were the absolute best! Eric and Luke (green helmets in pics) killed it! Safety was #1, they read our group well for ability and listening skills, fantastic conversations, awesome senses of humor! We'd visit again from Wisconsin just to go with these guys!

Had the time of my life at this place! It wouldn't have been as amazing without our special tour guides Yvette and Collin. They are super chill and down to earth, very knowledgeable, and articulate teachers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for a wonderful memory! Will definitely be back soon :)

My boyfriend and I went on the extreme tour here and Eric and Collin were amazing guides! A very fun course, they were very helpful and good at keeping our nerves down. It was a lot of fun, can’t wait to come back!

We randomly stopped here on our way through to a different town and I’m so thankful we did. DO NOT MISS the zip line tour here yall. Collin and Devon were our guides and they were so friendly, kind, informative, helpful, and beyond encouraging! For a first timer, I wouldn’t have picked another group of men to guide me. And shoutout to our driver Melissa for keeping it light and fun. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.
